“We finished third last season and now we definitely like to do well next season. We are a team comprising of very good players. I am delighted that we have signed players like Denisov, Kokorin and Samba. I think these players will help us achieve something
next season. Of course! Everybody likes to play in the Champions League. All the fans want to see Anzhi in the Champions League,” the CIS Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Ahmedov lavished praise on the Dagestani club’s transfer policy after the Makhachkala-based club managed to sign Denisov, Kokorin and Samba from Zenit St. Petersburg, Dynamo Moscow and Queen Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 respectively.
Anzhi managed to sign Denisov from the St. Petersburg club after weeks of negotiation. Zenit put a hefty 20 million Euros price tag on Denisov as they did not want to lose their prolific central midfielder.
However, Anzhi retained their reputation as one of the highest spending clubs in the Russian championship after paying over the odds to sign Denisov last month. Anzhi have spent over 100 million Euros to sign the likes of Samuel Eto’o, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Willian-c36898
in recent years.
Anzhi managed to re-sign Samba from the hoops for reportedly 12 million Euros. The Congolese defender signed a four-year contract after returning to Dynamo Stadium (Makhachkala) earlier this month.
Above all, the ambitious Russian outfit managed to sign Dynamo Moscow’s top-scorer Kokorin. Anzhi made the breakthrough after the Moscow-based club accepted 15 million Euros bid for their prized asset.
Ahmedov went on to assure the fans of his fitness, saying that he is taking a special course to facilitate him in spending more time on the pitch next season.
The Uzbekistani player, who joined the Wild-division from Pakhtakor Tashkent three years ago, remained on the sidelines much of the last season. However, the 25-year-old managed to score in Anzhi’s 2-1 win against Amkar Perm back in November last year.
