Ai Goto trounces Susan Egelstaff in Women’s Singles semi-final at XVII Peru International 2012
Japan’s Ai Goto continued her roller coaster run as she secured her place in Women’s Singles final after trouncing Scotland’s Susan Egelstaff at the XVII Peru International 2012 on Saturday, April 14, in Peru.
The spirited Goto, who is seeded at the top in Women’s Singles main round, proved her superiority in the arena as she played with precision and won the contest with a comprehensive margin on the board.
The Japanese shuttler did not spare any chance for Egelstaff to put up resistance and ended the encounter in straight games by working for just 30 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Egelstaff tried to play competitive badminton but had no answer to the perfect play of her higher ranked Japanese rival and lost the contest without showing even a slight resistance.
In the opening set, Goto wasted no time in taking an early lead as she played flawless badminton and also dominated the pace of rallies with her impressive craft.
In the meanwhile, Egelstaff failed to occupy the driving seat as her rival was in impressive form.
She remained struggling in the court as she was having trouble in taking the bird early from all areas.
The higher ranked Japanese shuttler took a comfortable lead by putting up impressive show until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Goto continued her commanding play in the game as she did not drop her speed at any stage and managed to bag the set with a sensational 21-12 score on the board.
In the second game, Goto again was the first who took an early lead by dictating the pace of rallies. She was everywhere in the court and did not show any mercy to her rival at any stage.
Until the one-minute interval, Goto managed to remain in commanding position as she set up a wonderful lead.
After the break, Goto did not lose her focus and remained positive in the court. She was perfect in placing the bird in right areas and took the second game with a remarkable margin of 21-13.
Goto won this semi-final clash in just 30 minutes by putting up an impressive 21-12 and 21-13 margin on the score board.
