Ai Miyazato confirms commitment for ShopRite LPGA Classic
Ai Miyazato has confirmed her participation for the ShopRite LPGA Classic, slated to be played from June 1-3, at the famous Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club.
Miyazato is a star performer, as she won the LPGA Lotte Championship, held in April this year. The player is expected to give a tough time to her rivals, as she had proved in the last events that she has what it takes to beat tough contenders.
However, the field at ShopRite LPGA Classic is quite strong, as most of the big names have committed to play the $1.5 tournament.
Some of the superstars are: the current world number one Yani Tseng, world number three Suzann Pettersen and Paula Creamer.
Despite missing out on the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic last week, Miyazato appears to be in a good form.  Finishing 1st at Hawaii has given her enough confidence, which the player herself admitted.
The Japanese star posted a decent 70 on the final day, recording a 4-stroke triumph. The event played at Ko Olina Club, Hawaii, also featured a strong field that comprised big players, like Yani Tseng and Paula Creamer.
Analysts said that it is premature to predict how the j*p is going to fare against rivals at Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club next month.
The 26-year-old star boasts a solid profile, as she has won 24 professional events so far. She racked up 8 titles on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour.
In addition to proving her worth on the LPGA Tour, Miyazato has been a star performer on the LPGA of Japan Tour.
The last season is important, as the LPGA superstar won the Evian Masters, played in the month of July. She inflicted a 2-stroke defeat on American Stacy Lewis.
Miyazato recorded four victories in the 2010 season. Analysts said that the ShopRite LPGA Classic is not new for the star, as she won the 2010 edition by 2 strokes.
The tournament is going to line up a 144-player field. The tournament officials said that they are confident about the prospects of the event, as they made all-out efforts to arrange it.
Tim Erensen, ShopRite LPGA Classic Executive Director, said that the LPGA is going to capitalise on the tournament, as there are plenty of competent players.
“With such an array of international talent and youth entering the game, it is no wonder the popularity of the LPGA continues to grow,” Tim Erensen.
