Ai Miyazato hopes to shine at Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012
Japanese Ai Miyazato hopes she can do her best at the upcoming Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012, as she claims to have regained her confidence after making a solid start in the current season.
Miyazato is set to kick off the Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012 from September 13, at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Wirral, United Kingdom, along with current world number one Yani Tseng and Paula Creamer of the United States.
Golf observers say everything seems to be going great for Miyazato, as she started the 2012 LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) season in grand style.
Having racked up two LPGA tiles in the current season, Miyazato has positioned herself as one of the most fearsome contenders in Ricoh Women’s British Open roster — something sure to trouble American and European players who are too confident to steal the show this week.
The Japanese star impressed her fans at the LPGA Lotte Championship, held in April 2012, as she grabbed a 4-stroke victory against South Korean Meena Lee and Azahara Munoz of Spain.
Then in July this year, she grabbed the limelight once again after she outrivaled Mika Miyazato of Japan and Spanish Azahara Munoz by one stroke at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.
The two victories were enough to put Miyazato on track, as she also claimed to have gained a newfound confidence that was never seen before.
This confidence was reflected in Miyazato’s voice while she spoke to the LPGA during her pre-tournament interview at Wirral. She said that she is quite thrilled after bagging two triumphs early in the season, and this is what is going to keep her momentum going in coming months.
“I'm feeling good with my season so far.  But last week it was kind of -- I mean, the last month was kind of a little bit rough month for me. So last week, it was a really good feeling and I think I had a really good finish, so I'm very happy,” Miyazato said.
“Even today, it was super windy today but I really enjoyed the weather, and the golf course is in good shape, and really beautiful out there.  So I'm always, you know, nice to be here”.
