Ai Wei Jien and Dede Ryan Philip enter the second round of the National Junior Circuit GP Gold
Malaysia’s Ai Wei Jien and Dede Ryan Philip entered the Boy’s Singles second round after beating their opponents in the first round of the 100Plus National Junior Circuit GP Gold 2011, at Bukit Kiara, Malaysia, on May 18.
Wei Jien took 42 minutes to beat Ng Di Hua in a rubber-set match, whereas Dede proved too strong for Ong Soon Hang in a two-set match of 25 minutes.
Wei Jien struggled in the first half of the opening set where he made some mistakes but recovered from the 5-8 deficit to move to 10-10, by playing better badminton. Ng was leading the game by an 11-10 margin at the end of the first part. However, Wei Jien
played a superb game in the later part of the opening set and finished it up in just 14 minutes with a 21-17 margin.
Ng delivered better performance in the second set and remained ahead of the opponent. He eliminated all of his mistakes and grabbed the set with a 21-17 margin by consuming only 13 minutes.
In the final set, Wei Jien controlled the game right from the start and remained successful in establishing a good lead of 11-7 in the opening half. After the interval, he remained focused and won the set by a 21-16 difference in just 15 minutes.
In another Boy’s Singles match, Dede dominated the game against Ong Soon from the starting points of the match. He was playing at his best by sparing no opportunity for the opponent to lead the game. Dede finished up the first set with a 21-17 difference
by consuming 13 minutes on court.
Ong Soon started the second set in a better way but lost his control as his opponent geared up his speed. At the end of the first part of the opening set, Dede was leading the game by an 11-9 margin. After the one-minute break, he continued his impressive
play and won the second game by a 21-15 score in just 12 minutes.
