Aidan O’Brien hopeful about Wrote in the Abu Dhabi Irish 2000 Guineas at Curragh
The hall mark trainer, Aidan O’Brien has entered four candidates in the Group 1 Abu Dhabi Irish 2000 Guineas that will be raced at Curragh over a mile on Saturday, 26th May. The line-up of the race includes eleven three-year-old runners while the prize money set for the winner is €174,000.
Wrote, High Chaparral’s three-year-old bay colt out of mare, Desert Classic, is one of the most promising entries tossed in by Aidan O’Brien. The other three are Daddy Long Legs, Power and Reply.
On 22nd August, 2011 he cleared his maiden in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 2YO Median Auction Maiden at Cork over a mile. Wrote was entered as the 2/1 favourite of the race and led the runner up, Alkazim, by a short head’s difference.
The three-year-old then won the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 2YO Premier Nursery Handicap on 29th August at Galway over seven furlongs. The 6/4 favourite winner took charge of the final two lengths and had Beau Amadeus finishing the closest.
Coming at terms with the third position was Crimson Sunrise.
Wrote got deprived of the hat trick as the Group 2 Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes on 24th September at Newmarket over a mile was won by Daddy Long Legs who led the track of six by 3 ¼ lengths.
Qualifying as the runner up was Tenth Star while the 5/2 favourite of the race, Farhaan, ended fifth. The race ended with all the three Aidan O’Brien entries conquering the first three positions.
Wrote then bagged the final race of the previous season that came forth in the form of the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf on 5th November at Churchill Downs over a mile.
Riding with Ryan Moore, he led the track by 2 ¼ lengths and had Excaper finishing the closest. The 4/1 favourite of the race, Finale, strode in seventh. This success was a milestone achievement of the three-year-old.
He is to confront contestants with whom he has raced before and will have the stable mates to compete too. The tactics to dodge them in order to win is something Wrote has done before so his chances for being prominent in the race today are quite high.
