Aidan Patrick O’Brien still going strongly as a trainer
There are quite a few good horseracing trainers doing a reasonable job in the sport. Ireland, in particular, has produced some very good trainers over the years and one of them is Aidan Patrick O’Brien, who has achieved plenty of success in his career and
is still going strong.
The veteran started off his profession in the nineties and no one could have ever thought that he would become such a successful trainer after all these years. He spent a lot of time working hard with the horses and the positive results kept on coming for
him.
O’Brien’s first major victory was the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle (Grade 1) with Thats My Man, who was one of the best runners of his time. He had participated in seven races overall and was only beaten once whereas finished at the top on six occasions.
This was not the only important victory for the legendary trainer, as he went onto succeed in the Dennys Gold Medal Chase (Grade 1) as well, finishing the 1995 season on a high.
After starting his career on a positive note, O’Brien never looked back and continued to prepare some extraordinary horses. He enjoyed a lot of success in the nineties and kept the momentum going over the past decade as well.
Although a lot of years have passed, yet the Irish trainer has not lost any of his skills and seems to grow stronger with the passage of time. The past couple of seasons have been really good for him and he has enjoyed a really good time in 2012 as well.
Despite winning numerous Group-1 events, he still seems to be hungry for more success. Recently, he managed to claim the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby (Group 1) (Entire Colts & Fillies) with Camelot and was delighted with what he had achieved.
This was the third time when O’Brien won the derby and his remarks after claiming it were, “You know when you dream about things, and you say maybe some day dreams could come true, but this is something you couldn't even imagine could happen. For it to happen
on a day like today, for everybody, with a horse like that. I'm not educated enough to describe that.”
It seems that the experienced trainer enjoys his role in the sport and he will definitely continue to prepare some quality runners in order to entertain the horseracing fans worldwide.
