Aidis Kruopis wins the fourth stage of the Tour of Poland
Aidis Kruopis of Team Orica GreenEdge wins the fourth stage of the Tour of Poland after his tremendous performance during the race.
He crossed the finish-line in the quickest time of 2 hours, 43 minutes and 4 seconds to secure his first victory at the Polish race.
Ben Swift of Team Sky Procycling, Theo Bos of Team Rabobank, Daniele Bennati of Team RadioShack-Nissan and Alexander Porsev of Team Katusha achieved the next four spots.
The Lithuanian was delighted after the stage win and thanked his team-mates for their constant support during the race.
"This is a special victory for me and the team," said Kruopis. "Orica-GreenEdge has shown their faith in me, and it's the first opportunity I've had to win in Poland. I'm happy to show the team what I could do".
"Mitch [Docker] kept the pace high and Leigh [Howard] led me to 800 meters. I went around the last corner behind the Sky train".
“I was just behind Swift, and he had two teammates in front of him. They pulled until he opened his sprint. At 100 meters, I started sprinting. I passed Swift, and I won”.
Michal Kwiatkowski, Bert De Backer and Rafael Andriato won the first three sprints of the race while Adrian Kurek succeeded during the fourth and the fifth category of the event.
Gianni Meersman of Team Lotto Belisol and Angel Madrazo Ruiz succeeded during the first and the second mountain of the event.
Michal Kwiatkowski of Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step is still leading the stage 4 classifications with a convincing lead of 2 seconds over More Moser of Team Liquigas-Cannondale.
Fabian Wegmann of Team Garmin-Sharp is 8 seconds behind at the third spot with Lars Boom of Team Rabobank and Linus Gerdemann of Team RadioShack-Nissan is at the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
Ben Swift of Team Sky Procycling holds the top position after the stage 4 point’s classification with a total number of 39 UCI points in his bag.
Moreno Moser of Team Liquigas-Cannondale, Michal Kwiatkowski of Team Omega Pharma-Quickstep, Sacha Modolo of Team Colnago-CSF and Daniele Bennati of Team RadioShack-Nissan are holding the next four spots in the respective order.
