Aiko Nakamura, Yi-Jing Zhao enter the second round – Beijing International Challenger 2011
Aiko Nakamura defeated Chinese Ziyue Sun 7-6 (5), 3-6, 7-5 on Monday to book her place in the second round of 2011 Beijing International Challenger Series in Beijing, China.
The Japanese tennis-pro looked in fabulous form in a match that lasted for nearly two hours and 27 minutes on the hard courts of Beijing National Tennis Centre. Despite making a slow start to the match, Aiko Nakamura kept her focus
on the game as she finally emerged victorious to advance into the next round.
Top seeded at the WTA tournament, Aiko Nakamura looked a bit out of sorts as the match started. Making a large number of unforced errors in the opening, she let her opponent take control of the match early on. Despite receiving
several break chances during the opener, she was unable to convert most of them. After both players broke each other regularly, the set went into a tie-breaker. Being the more experienced of the two players, Aiko Nakamura played the big points really well
and she fired a blistering serve ace under pressure to bag the opening set.
His opponent, Ziyue Sun concentrated on his own game play and made most of the opportunities that were presented to her in the following set. Breaking the serve twice, she raced to an impassable 5-1 lead. Although she was broke
in one of the games in the set, she clinched the second set to forced the match into a decider.
Nakamura regrouped herself in the final set, and played her natural game with freedom in the final set as well. Having put her rival under extreme pressure, she smashed her gorgeous forehand and backhand winners all over to establish
complete control over the contest.
Hitting a brilliant serve ace, she made two match points available to herself and then she converted the second one to ensure her place in the next round of WTA tournament. Nakamura’s well directed and on-target serves played a
big part in deciding the outcome of the match.
In another match at the tournament, Yi-Jing Zhao of China eased past Nicha Lerpitaksinchai 6-3, 6-1 to move ahead.
The Chinese made a slow start as she took some time to settle down in the match. Breaking her opponent four times in the match, she put herself in the driving seat.
Consolidating, the Italian raised the level of her game even further in the second set and dropped only a game to close out the match. Lerpitaksinchai couldn’t handle the pressure and missed few easy scoring opportunities. Zhao
completed her straight sets victory with a lovely backhand winner down the line.
