Aine Matsushita earns Girls 200m butterfly title – 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet
Aine Matsushita of Itoman earned gold medal of the Girls 200m butterfly on final day of the 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet at the Golden West Swim Club in Golden West College on Sunday, September 23.
Matsushita faced tough competition from her toughest challenger throughout the race but with her impressive efforts in the final round, she managed to reach the top of podium for gold medal.
She remained engage in a neck-to-neck race with her closest competitor in the first three laps but managed to overpower her in the final lap and accomplished the title.
Her immaculate efforts in the four-lap event placed her two strokes ahead of her following swimmer and tapped the wall for gold medal with a wonderful timing of 2 minutes and 13.90 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Aya Takano of Itoman, who stayed 0.41 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 14.31 seconds.
Takano enjoyed an advantage of three body lengths over her subsequent rival, Kana Daigo of Itoman, who proved her mettle for third position by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 17.12 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Dorothy Halmy of NCSA, who stayed 4.03 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing blockade as fourth fastest swimmer by submitting an effort of 2 minutes and 21.15 seconds.
Similarly, Halmy remained 3.15 seconds ahead of Paige L Maynard of NCSA, who transpired on the finishing end as fifth best swimmer by posting a time of 2 minutes and 24.30 seconds.
Sixth best spot of the race was obtained by Samantha Sannes of NCSA, who was considerably slower from her foregoing finisher and appeared on the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 37.24 seconds.
Miku Onodera of Itoman was disqualified from the race while Corrigan C McIlmail of NCSA, who finished sixth in the prelims, did not swim in the playoff.
In addition, Matsushita received huge appreciation from the audience for her unstoppable efforts and told that she would continue her hard work to achieve the same in forthcoming swimming events.
