Question:

Air Canada - Connecting Flights?

I am leaving this Friday from New Brunswick to British Columbia on Air Canada. I have connecting flights in Toronto and Vancover. I was just wondering how connecting flights work :) - and a bit about finding my gate. It has been a year since I my last trip and I am terrified of missing my flight! How do I find my gate? Is it hard? I have almost an hour between arriving and connecting both times, is that enough time. I am planning to just find where I need to go and get there! Are there people (workers) around the airport that could help me? My ticket says for Toronto, terminal 1 and Van main terminal.. can anyone find a map of these terminals? i can't :)

are there signs telling me i am at the right gate if i do find where i think i am suppose to be? lol - like "Toronto to Vancover" or anything of that sorts?

is there an assistance thing i can buy, just to make sure i don't miss it! Althought last time i was away i was the one telling everyone where to go - this first time alone

  1. Haha, this is right up my alley. The amount of times I've had a connecting flight in Vancouver or Toronto... oh, man, I know those airports by heart.

Right, so you want to get off the plane pretty fast. Go out and see what gate your plane parked at, which is pretty straight foreward. Generally, domestic(same-country) flights all leave from the same area, especially when it's the same airline. Once you know that gate number, then go find a big TV screen--they're everywhere, you can't miss it. It'll have all the departing flights on it. Look for your next destination, and if there's more than one flight to that destination, match the flight number on that with the ticket you got when you checked in to the first airport. Then look and see what gate it's departing from, and how much time you have. If not-- better walk fast! Don't worry, though, they'll always leave you enough time to get there, and the plane won't leave without you.

To find the gate, look at the numbers. Say you arrived in Gate A17, and you want to get to A41 to get your next flight. Look for A18-- which should be right next to A17-- and head in that direction, going up in number. Look at the signs overhead, they'll often say "Gates A-30 to A-50 right, Terminal C left". Just follow the signs, and you'll be there in no time!

It's really, really easy. Honest. And if you're REALLY lost-- just ask for help!
