I've been staring at flights all week from Saint John NB to Kamloops BC and I had one all planned out for this Saturday (did everything except actually purchase it!) anyway, yesterday evening it was 349$ and later than night it be came 645$ - so i decided I would have to go next Friday for 329$ but now that one is 488$, why do these tickets keep going up? What are my chances of getting a lower price than what is shown if I wait or should I book it right now? (these prices are just one way)

how does purchasing a ticket online work? do i need a printer? anyone that wants to find me a deal, you are more than welcome. I need to be there no later than next weekend <3

xx

  1. Contrary to popular belief, ticket prices generally increase as you get closer to the date of travel, not decrease. This is because ticket pricing gives larger discounts to people who purchase further in advance (effectively charging more to business travelers, who are more likely to buy tickets at short notice). In other words, if you're looking to buy a ticket with such short notice, buy it as soon as possible, because it's likely that the price will increase by the next day.

To buy a ticket online, you only need a credit card. A printer is not necessary to buy the ticket, but you'd need one if you wanted to check in online (to print the boarding pass). You would only need to show up at the airport with your ID otherwise -- the ticket is electronic, so they'd have your ticket in their computer.

  2. I'll add to the above answer...Better to do it fast - oil prices are not coming down and the airlines have no choice but to pass the extra cost onto the customers.
