1. Bring a large carry-on and put your laptop (without its own carrying case) inside. Make sure to take the laptop out of the carry on and place it in a separate bin when you go through security. Or, instead of bringing a purse, put all you stuff in the carry-on,but make sure you can close it securely to avoid theft of wallet, passport etc. Then you can bring your laptop in its case plus the carry-on. I have always used a backpack (with the laptop in it + books, magazines etc.) and carried my purse.

You cannot plug in your laptop on the plane. Either bring an additional, fully charged battery, or if you have time between flights, recharge your battery in the airport (there are many areas with electrical outlets)

When you get off your flight ask the gate attendant for directions to the gate for your connecting flight. However, airport directions are clearly posted everywhere.

You can bring make-up, but any liquids (including lipstick) must be in the clear plastic bag with any other liquids you might be bringing (nail polish, hand sanitizer, etc.). If they check your luggage and find the aerosol hairspray, they will remove it. Buy a mist hairspray.

Hope this helps - I've travelled extensively on Air Canada.

  2. 1. Probably, but it depends on where you are flying from. If you are flying from the UK you will be limited to one piece of cabin baggage.

    2. It depends on your aircraft and class of service. Some do and some don't. For the specifics of your aircraft check www.seatguru.com.

    3. Check the monitors at the airport for gate information. There will also generally be signage at the gate identifying which flight is going out from that gate. If in doubt, ask someone for help. People are usually very willing to lend a hand if asked.

    4. Yes, as long as the size of each liquid item doesn't exceed 100ml and they all fit in a 1l zip-top bag. Your hairspray would be fine for your checked luggage.

    Hope this helps! Safe travels!
