I have a Everstar portable air conditioner, but it does not cool the other rooms even with the windows closed, is it only for one room? And it's manual says something about filtering water that i can't understand, does anyone know? Is there any other things i can do to make it more cold?

  1. if its portable, sits in a window, it's probably only for 1 room. somewhere on the box or owners manual it will say how many cubic feet it will cool and how powerful it is (BTUs). most window units will cool 1 medium size room. When an air conditioner runs, it cools and removes humidity from the air in the room. that removed humidity (water) needs to drain outside.

  2. if it a swamp cooler then they work best in the room they are in but to help cool other rooms open a window a little bit in the room farthest from the cooler so the cooler will push out the hot air through the window filling the house with cool air.  You can also put ice in the water if it is a swamp cooler it should have removable side/s and a pan for water inside... just dump some ice in there and ti should cool right down

  3. I also have an Everstar portable air conditioner.  Mine does an excellent job of cooling about 1,000 sq. ft.  It takes the water (humidity) out of the air and collects it in a drawer on the side.  This needs to be emptied 3 or 4 times a day depending on how humid it is in your area.  The water is clean water and I use it to water my plants.

If it's 100 degrees outside my Everstar will keep 1,000 sq ft at 78 degrees which is slightly warm but comforable.
