Hi everything works except the thing outside (i think its called the condenser?) It wont turn on for some reason so all im getting is warm air coming out thru the vents. Is there a fuse or something that i need to replace? I dont really want to spend 200 on a service man... otherwise i would call one...thanks!

  1. the 1st thing u need to do is go outside to the unit and see if the disconnect is plugged in if it is go to the thermostat and put it on the lowest setting possible and make sure its on cool not heat if it comes on u will need to do a Little test about an hour later just go outside with a thermometer and check the outside air then place it by the fan on the condenser unit and then go in the house and check the supply (big white vent) and return (little vent in rooms) there should be what we call a 20degree split. which means it should be at least 20degrees colder in side the vent than it is on the unit if not you are low on freon      good luck

  2. Your outdoor unit is supplied by a separate source than the indoor unit. Check your circuit breaker panel for a tripped breaker, or there may be fuses inside the disconnect mounted on the wall along side the outdoor unit. When in doubt, replace both of the fuses. There may be no fuses inside, only a disconnect blade. Hope this helps.

  3. you will have to pay for it.not once but a few fixes you will have to run across then next you will have to replace the whole dam thing for like 1,400.

  4. I'm a hvac tech.and theres so many things that it could be you  need to have a reputable company come out. service calls with my company are only 65 dollars and you definitely want it to be diagnosed properly. if they tell you its a big ticket item than get second opinion

  5. It could be many things.  Some units have a shut off when low on freon.  Most have a fuse outside and in the panel box inside.  Does it make any sound at all when turned on??  I have to ask this as dumb as it sounds, have you looked at the thermostat to make sure its on cool and the fan is on auto?  If the fan is on auto, and its running, something isn't right?  Some model AC's have a push button reset right inside the wiring housing...Maybe check those first?
