  1. Probably a  refrigerant leak, check for signs of oil around the pipe fittings and connections, call a repair man there is no quick fix if you have a leaky system the repair utilizes special tools you probably don''t have access to.

  2. She's froze up.Turn your "cool"off and run your "fan" only for 45 minutes.

Then run her as normal and she'll start to cool.Check for a dirty coil or filter and fix.

It will continue to freeze up after several hours of operation unless the problem is corrected. If the coil and filter are ok and it continues to freeze, she's low of refrigerant.

  3. I assume this is a central air system.  If the air coming out is warm the compresser is not working.  Check the unit outside and see if the lines coming out are froze up, if so, turn thermostat up or off until it's thawed out.

  4. check the condensing unit to make sure everything if anything is running. (The outside unit) is the fan running? can you hear the compressor running? Is the breaker tripped?  is the line going from the outside unit to the inside of the house frozen? If it is than likely your low on freon and have a leak that should be located or your indoor coil is dirty. Do you change your filters? Start with this.

  5. I would guess that you need to have a qualified air conditioner person check the freon (spelling). It is the gas that cools your home. I just had new air conditioner installed. We never set it above 83 unless we have visitors. We turn it off at night and use a room air conditioner for our bedroom. The central air goes on around 9am. We dress cool as possible unless we have visitors (then air is set to 78. Our electric bill is amazingly low!

PS.  We also very often use fans, which don't take as much electricity as the air conditioner.

    Hope this helps, Marty
