Question:

Air Cooled vs. Liquid Cooled Computer

I'm thinking of buying 2 computers. One has liquid cooling and the other air cooling. I'm wondering which system of cooling is better in general. Or does it even affect the computers performance at all?

  1. Liquid cooling is better, but makes it a little more difficult to change components that have attached heat sinks.  Also, it is much quieter than air cooled.  However, a properly configured case with fans can cool just fine.

  2. Liquid cooling is quieter since there's no airflow noise, and the radiator is passive. However, changing components can be very difficult, and any leaks can destroy your system in an instant.

Air cooling is more fool-proof, but only if you can live with the noise and the lesser effiency.

  3. I agree with the two previous answers, but will also add that you don't really need liquid cooling unless you are overclocking your computer at a ridiculous rate. Air cooling works just fine, just make sure there is plenty of open air around your case.
