Air Crash Investigation reconstructions?

The Air Crash Investigation TV show has great reconstructions. I was just wondering what method is most likely used for the outside shots of the plane - CGI or a customised flight simulator?

The show is also known as "Mayday" in Canada where it's produced. According to Wikipedia, many of the scenes are shown using computer generated imagery:
