I am expecting my first child in October and was curious if I should get the ducts cleaned in my home. We do have two cats and two dogs. What is the cost of something like this??? Any good companies (Detroit, Michigan area)

  1. Find a Stanley Steemer.  They are reputable and run specials in newspapers.  If not them, find someone who only does duct cleaning, or restoration services.  Make sure it's something that the company does frequently.  Some heating/a/c places dont do it often and don't have great equip.  Just ask before you commit.

Get references or ask your neighbors for better local advice.

  2. yes def..I did it and it cost me like $50..you should do it once a year

  3. Hit up the attached link

I have done some extensive research on these products and have found the pros totally outweigh and cons with the whole house unit. As long as it is from a reputable manufacturer.

Within a few weeks after I had my system cleaned it could have used another cleaning.

Beware of all the 'Extras' a HVAC company will try to sell you  like anti micro bacterial  applications or cleaners/filters etc...They will defiantly introduce a fresh sent into the unit to 'make' the house smell cleaner but that soon fades.

I'm not saying these cleanings from companies don't work; they do but their short lived,  to get the same results as having something working 24-7 365 within a year you will spend the same if not more than going ahead and getting the whole house unit installed.
