  1. Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve members are subject to short tour deployments as part of air crews.  Short tours range from several weeks to several months not to exceed ninety days.  If you have not recorded a short tour during the course of a year you could get called up for a long tour which can be from six months to a year.  For the majority of the time of your deployment you might be flying over the 'war zone' however you will be based at some friendly rear area either in Europe or somewhere in the Middle East...

  2. sorry the air national guard DOES go for over 90 days.  my husband has been to iraq for 6 months,,and is scheduled to go back to the middle east for another six this fall.  true the deployments are shorter and a bit more spaced apart but they do go.  alot depends on your unit and what your job is.  my husband is security forces and is gone more often and longer than my brother who is a jet mech.

mostly it all depends on your unit,,,your job,,and sometimes how well you are at raising your hand.
