Question:

Air Force at my age???

27 years old, slowly becoming a loser due to confusion on which direction to take in life. I'm smart and great with people, I figure I have something to offer. Anyways, I'm thinking of joining the air force but I'm scared to pick something I have to commit to for four years.I was wondering if anyone has any stories or advice on how the military might help give me direction and discipline in life. You opinion is appreciated and considered.

Thanks so much

  1. Join the Marines. There you will get a direction and a purpose in life.If you go in, you can't just say, I quit, it is a commitment to yourself and your country. You may already be too old.

  2. Do it...Whether you get out after 4 years or make it a career...It will give you Focus, discipline, maturity, an education, and life experience...The military is not as regimented as most people think..The only draw back at your age is that the majority of enlistees are 18-20...But that puts you above them in maturity and resposibility...

  3. You are not to old. You have to be in basic training by your 28th birthday. The Air Force will give you direction, discipline and teach you technical skills. All of the training you receive will be college credited and tuition is paid for if you want to go to school on your own time. The living standards are excellent and the dining facilities are very nice as well. If you are not doing anything with your life right now you need to make a move before its to late. I am 28 and halfway to retirement. DO IT!!!!!!

  4. well actually if you enlist for four years your obligated up to 8 yrs....when i get out the army i will have 5 yrs in that means i will have 3yrs of praying to not get called back....i think the air force would be a very good choice....you should talk to a female that is in the air force currently not that was in 10yrs ago...military changes constantly....and see what they say....either way of serving your country be it on the battle field or sitting behind a desk doing paper work...it takes us all to do our job in order to be an effective military....yes the military as had an increase of older people joining over the past few years...i think the age limit to join is like 45 or 48?? age doesn't matter it's putting your heart in it that counts....i joined stopped doing drugs settled down married now two kids....i the rate i was going i probably would've been dead by now if i hadn't joined....well good luck to you....and god bless....
