I saw this on Answers blog. Is it true?

"There is one great contributer to climate change. In fact it may be the greatest one but it is hardly ever brought up. And that is when the Airforce dumps its fuel into the air before they land. They do it 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week and have been doing it for decades."

  1. Others besides the airforce do this.  Sometimes there isn't an alternative.  It's part of the downside of being forced to use dirty obsolete petroleum technology.  If you're looking at the military you might want to look at the Navy.  They have an environmental exemption that allows them to dump anything and everything they want, including pertroleum, toxic wastes, and nuclear material.  The US has a large Navy and they do a lot of dumping.  For the mentally defective, I'm not attacking National Defense, I'm dicussing pollution.

  2. It is a practice to dump fuel to lighten a plane in an emergancy not just with military planes, but this isn't a standard practice as there are some dangers from sparking which could cause an explosion. Even if this were true (which I very much doubt) unburnt fuel gives of far less Co2 (but it is pollution) than burnt fuel, they would technically be saving the planet, because left in the tank it would be burnt later and add to Co2 in the atmosphere.

  3. ok, since the air force is now bad, lets eliminate them, or legislate them into not flying. so much for your protection.  here comes the bad guys, and guess what they do? why, yes, they dump fuel and pollute, and wont listen to any liberal tree hugging environmentalists. omg, the humanity.  enjoy being ruled by the bad guys.
