I have a Nissan Altima 05. The Service Engine Light turned on yesterday.

I run diagnostics to get the code and it gave me the following message:

P1273 Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor 1

What does it mean.

By the way I took my car for Inspection the day before the light turned on.

  1. It means the oxygen sensor in the front of the catalytic converter (sensor 1) reading lean mixture for an extended time.It can be the sensor itself, vacuum leaks,MAF sensor.....Anything that causes more air enter the engine after the MAF.

  2. It could be a multitude of thing, catalytic converter, what it's telling you is that your air fuel ratio is not right. But then again they call them idiot lights.I say don't worry about it,if it really puts you in a panic by seeing the light, cover the light with electrical tape (black tape) this way here you can't see it.
