Question:

Air Jacks?

Does anyone share my opinion that NASCAR should have incorporated air jacks in the design of the C O T like those used in the I R L and F-1 racing? What about a similar way of fueling the cars as those series have?

I think this would make the races safer for the pit crews as well as the drivers.

  1. The pit stops and who can get in and out fastest is a majority of fun for the fans me in particular.  When I used to go to the Pocono 500 we would always sit near the Pits to check out what was going on.

  2. nascar is more a team sport so no i dont think they should. it would be unfair to the jackmen how work there tails off to just put them out of the sport.

  3. Good idea but hydraulics are more efficient and are self contained (no external hoses to trip over)

  4. I think it is geat just the way it is .

  5. No I is a way to identify that it is a NASCAR race not an open wheel race like 18 fan said it the only thing we have kept the same since the car are totally changed from stock cars

  6. The current form of doing pit stops is a major part of the identity of Nascar. I doubt you will ever see anything change.

  7. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  8. I will just add to what has been mentioned.  Yes the built in jacks are a great idea and would make pitstops faster but there is a long list of things you could do to make nascars faster.  The pitstop as mentioned above is a huge part of the sport and adds to its competition.  If they wanted to they could have made wheels with a single lugnut but that is not what its all about.  The pitstop is designed to be a challenge and the teams that are succesful at completing them the fastest are rewarded.

  9. given the fact that the COT made the cars indistinguishable from the outside (other than the nameplate and where they are finishing nowadays), and that they no longer come anywhere near looking like "stock" cars off the showroom floor, the only thing left to remind fans that these are like cars they drive is that you have to jack them up and change the tires in a similar way.

air jacks (and spindle mount wheels) would remove the last remnant of a connection between the cars on the track and the cars fans drive.

    ;-)
