In recent times compressed air powered vechile technology has come a long way. ><http://www.theaircar.com< Whats the viability of similar technology being adopted in aviaiton. Obviously it wouldn't be very practical to replace the mighty gas turbine, but what about in light aviaiton. Benefits may include reduced weight with lighter engines and no fuel, improved noise ratings with quiter engines and also reduced operating costs. Concepts like regenerative charging of the tanks and air fuel hybrids are also possibilities. Anyway - just an idea - they might even already have the technology in place.

 1. Hey, what a coincidence. I've asked this same question before on Yahoo Answers. I'm pretty sure it can be done, and if I had the money and space, I would try it myself.

 2. Compressed air is heavy. There isn't "no fuel." And the engines aren't necessarily much lighter, if at all.
