Is there such thing as an Air Traffic Control internship? I want to do that at the tower at the airport I take lessons at. I'm a sophmore and I'll be 16 in November.

  1. The FAA just announced (today) they are recruiting high school grads to be hired directly out of high school. They plan to send the candidates to Oklahoma city for  three months of  training, which upon completion, they become air traffic controllers in training. They are even offering a $100,000 bonus

  2. Right now the only way to become and air traffic controller is to either do it in the military or else to take college courses at one of the few schools that offer that kind of training...then you have to take the government's training for it.

You can go to the National Air Traffic Controllers association and get more info:

    Good luck!

  3. There are two ways to learn to be an ATC -

    1.  Military service (Air Force)

    2.  Be hired by the FAA to be an ATC and attend the academy in Oklahoma City.
