run 1- heat some water to approximately 160 degrees and pour it into the glass. to avoid breaking the glass with the sudden change temperature, run hot tap water into the glass first. insert the thermometer so the the top does not touch the glass. when the temperature has stabilized, start recording and plotting data.

run 2- repeat assignment but have a fan blowing on the glass

run 3- repeat assignment again but put the glass into the pot of room temperature water

thoroughly explain results, paying particular attention to the differences in rate of cooling and WHY they differed.

  1. Sounds like an interesting experiment.  That's why your teacher wants you to do it yourself.  You won't learn anything by having me do it for you.

I think the data they mean is the temperature.  Try recording it at intervals like 1 minute or 2 minutes.  Look in the kitchen for a thermometer if you can't find one.
