You might want to pay some extra attention to the section that your question is posted, in the future. You made it to sports /cycling.

However you are in luck I'll have a go at it.

The reason the a/c is not cycling off is most likely because the room's air temperature has not dropped below the setting on the thermostat.

This could be as simple as having the temperature set too low. The thermostat could also be faulty.

If the a/c is a few years old then it is likely to be clogged the dust. Give the filters a good clean, then blast out all the "radiator elements" with compressed air. Nine times out of ten restoring air flow cures most of an air conditioners ills.
