I just bought a 60 gallon campbell hausfeld, it's rated at 10.2 scfm. Will this be good enough to power tools like 2 sprayers to paint a car, and maybe two sanders?

  1. This depends entirely on your tools and how much air they use. If their combined operating cfm is less that your compressor, it will work. If they need more air, then it won't. Check the specs on your tools and do some basic math.

  2. yes it will run them it will sometimes overheat it though if you run it for long periods at a time you have to give it a break once in a while but it will run them it works really well on paint guns because they use very little air,but air guns is like opening  an  end up on the hose,it will do ok though, for what your wanting to do,good luck.

  3. Most likely not.

Figure 1 HP for 4 CFM.

At 10.2 that gives me a rough calculation of 2.5 HP.

1 Mud Hog will run it into the ground.

For simple numbers, figure that if you are really hitting the body work it will take 5 HP.

    Two people, double it.

    That equates to 40 CFM.

You may seem that that is excessive, but remember that cheep compressors are rarely rated at 100% duty cycle.

So if I take a 2.5 HP unit rated more realistically at 80/20.

Meanining in one minute it is on for 80% of the time then cooling down for 20% of the time.

Two DA'S will kill this thing.

The volume of the tank is to give you this reserve diferential differance.

Meaning that while working alone a 60 GAL will give you enough for a couple minutes, while you do something else.
