  1. YOu already know the problem to the ac, don't let it run too long. make it work for 12 hours then give it some time to rest. At least an hour or two. then turn it back on. put the settings on the t-stat a little higher, only 10 degrees less than the out side temperature. don't set it all the way down to 60, because it will never satisfy the space temperature and your compressor will keep working hard without any rest. Good luck.

  2. If you see frost or ice in the big line going to your inside or outside coils you have a leak therefore a lack of charge. If no ice or frost your filter may be stopped up. If frosted, turn unit off let it thaw out and try again. Call repair to fix leak and recharge unit.

  3. It freezes up only when the air is restricted or it needs freon. Not because it runs too long.

If you go outside and check the 2 copper tubes going in the ac and see if one is frozen. If it's frozen then check your filter. It may be a dirty filter, dirty coils, or low on freon.

There are lots of reasons why it doesn't blow cold but these are the most common. Also check to see if your compressor is coming on at all. If you only hear the fan blowing outside the it's not coming on. If you hear an extra click and humming noise then the compressor is working. Just don't turn it on and off on and off on and off. It needs time to reset between each on/off.  Hope this helps some.

  4. Same thing happened to me and a bug shorted out the compressor.
