Air conditioner Fins?

I am a renter in an apartment & my electric bill has been outrageous! I had them look at the a/c & they said it just needed to be cleaned. I went & looked at it & pretty much all the fins have been smashed or bent... my question is will this cause your electric to be higher than usual??? I am trying to research this so I can go over this with the apartments! thanks for any answers!!

Get a fin straightener from your local AC shop. Do NOT try to do it with a table knife, etc. They just break off then.

if the cooling finns on the AC are all smashed ot bent then the air cannnot pass thru and cool the air. It behooves you to sit there and gently pry the fins open so the AC can work properly. Enough said.
