Air conditioner help for a room-BTU?

i want to put an air conditioner in my room. my room is about 15feet in length and 12feet in width. i dont know what kind to get. and what kind of BTU size should i get it. (whats BTU?)

  1. depending on Sun exposure and how well it is insulated. 5-6k not more than 8k. to much is not good If you have to many Btu's the unit will ice up and be very inefficient


  2. BTU = British Thermal Unit.

    Check out this link to see what size is best.  It is always better to go higher BTU if there is any question.  You don't want to buy one too small as it will never catch up with the demand and will work the unit to much.  Watch out for the voltage.  There are some out there that have to have 240 Volts to. Unless you want to have an electrician run new wires stick to the 120 Volt models.  Get one that turns completely off once the room reaches the desired temp.  This is sometimes call an energy saver feature by manufacturers.
