Question:

Air conditioner trouble Please help!

My husband came home to a power outage. Everything works now except for our air conditioner. He checked the fuse box in the garage and the one outside. From what we can see, it doesn't appear to be a fuse problem.

The A/C guy hasn't called us back yet and it's REALLY hot in here.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix our central air conditioning unit? What could be wrong with it?

  1. Your a/c unit may have a reset button or an internal fuse or breaker. There is usually a junction box next to your a/c unit, look inside and see what is there. Also, if you have breakers instead of fuses, make sure the breaker is reset. Also, don't trust the labeling on your fuse/breaker box, he may not be looking at the proper fuse or breaker, make sure he checks them all.

  2. There is a reset button on most outside units. It may be down on the bottom edge where the tubing comes in.

Turn the breakers off--even if they appear okay-- then turn them back on.

You probably don't have a fuse--you probably have circuit breakers. Sometimes if they are tripped-- you may not can tell it. Turn them off and back on 1 time to solve that question.

  3. is there a reset button on the ac unit
