Air conditioning on during a thunder storm?

Is it safe to put your ac on during a thunderstorm cause my mom is worried that sumthung might happen

  1. To be honest with you, i really don't see a problem with it. The chances of something happening are very small. I usually always keep my AC on during storms and nothing has ever happened.  The only way there can be a problem is if lightning strikes the AC unit outside of house, but the chances of that happening are not very good.


  2. if its A/C in a Car...nothing to worry about, the electricity cant ground it self through the tires obviously. A/C in a house though...its very unlikely. but even if someting was to happen, all a/c systems have fuses which will blow before anything serious happens.

  3. The worst thing that could happen is if the lightning creates a surge and damages the AC. But it is rare.

  4. The AC is run by electricity, so the possibility of it being shocked during the storm is real.  Best to shut it off just to be sure!
