  1. They will never do this as it would discriminate against older people, men or people who are genetically heavier (just some examples). Any airline who tried to implement such a scheme would cause a public outrage and people would boycott its services.

There is no need to take such measures - an average anticipated weight per passenger along with some margins for error mean that heavy passengers are not causing a problem for airlines (that's why they don't weigh you!). What's causing the problem is increases in tax, and the only fair way to distribute that cost (if they have to pass it on to the customer at all) is by charging everyone a small amount extra.

Heavy people are not responsible for the increasing costs of flights, so they do not deserve to be punished for it.

  2. Never, because that wouldn't be 'politically correct' and does not show equality.  Although I wouldn't mind cause I'm only little! Lol.

  3. I am sure they thought of it but it would be a public relation nightmare for any airline company to actually do it.

  4. i look after my health and make sure that i stay fit and in good form. i also travel light - meaning that if i have a 20kg bag limit, i try to stick to around 10 kg.

why should i subsidise the ticket price of some fat person? honestly, at a time when airlines are cutting back the weight if their inflight magazines (!) i should not have to pay for the extra fuel that a bunch of fatties uses up/

im all for it - maybe it will force pple to lose weight

  5. I can understand what you are saying, it is probably a good idea in therory - BUT it is bordering on discrimination.

It isn't acceptable to treat someone differently based on their appearance and lifestyle.

It wouldn't just be obese people paying more... but muscley people, tall people, pregnant people, men in general....

If everyone paid an individual rate for services based on their lifestyle, no one would ever get anywhere because we'd be so wrapped up in finding out who had to pay what.

I can imagine the queue at Heathrow as everyone waits to be weighed, and then arguing the scales are wrong, and people hiding clothing, insisting on getting their luggage back to squeeze some more stuff into it, poeple wanting to use the toilet to loose that extra 0.001lbs and passing out on flights because they've starved themselves.

Plus everyone weights changes all the time.
