  1. Of course, you should have finished your schooling, maybe in college, because flying these sophisticated jets is a tough, disciplined job.

After these preliminaries, then you ENLIST in the Air Force, of course. You go from there, prove your worth, skill and determination, then you move up, literally, and everything should fall in its proper place.

  2. Qualify and enrol in the air force.

    Successfully graduate as a pilot.

Have enough grades to be posted to a Fighter Unit.

Prove your worth and fly the best machines.

  3. Well unfortunately, you will not be able to fly the  F-14 "Tomcat". This plane has just been replace by the F-22 "Raptor". If you want to become an Air Force Aviator. You must go to college and enroll in their ROTC program, and come out as an Officer. And apply for a flight spot. If you your best chances are by going to the Air Force Academy in Colorado. To get in there you must get recommended by your senator. If not i would recommend going to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and get in to their flight program. This past year 70% of this years flight class received a flight spot. The Air Force Academy is the only school that has a better percentage than that.

In order to become a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, you must:

    1. Obtain a bachelor's degree at a recognized university. This may include the Air Force Academy, but that is not the only way.

    2. Become a commissioned officer in the Air Force. This can also be accomplished via the Air Force Academy, or by ROTC during 4 years of college, or by the 3+ month intensive OTS training at Lackland AFB in Texas.

    3. Attend and successfully pass all phases of training required for the pilot assignment, including land survival, water survival, a year or so of flight training, and several months of training within your assigned aircraft. Training may include extreme physical and / or mental effort. When you get your wings, you will be a different person than you are today.

    4. Be prepared to serve your country in a manner that is above reproach in assignments that may involve combat situations.

This is not for everyone. Many do not make the grade, due to all sorts of reasons. If you are not sure you want to do it, then you should probably look elsewhere. If you are sure, you might eventually make it. Best of luck in whatever you decide.

  5. nighthawk and tomcat are both retired. you want to get into the AF academy and then go through the steps to be a pilot. you have no choice on what plan you fly either heavy or fighter. when you get done with pilot school they assign you a aircraft based on your preformance. the you train for the type of aircraft and then depending on how you do there they give you a plane. DO NOT ENLIST TO BE A PILOT!!!!
