Question:

Air force or coast guard?

I am definitely joining a branch of the service, but I can't make up my mind between the air force or coast guard. The coast guard doesn't go overseas as much as the air force but then again, the coast guard doesn't really have the jobs that I like that the air force has. Any suggestions?

  1. If you want to fight the Air Force is your choice, they're combat-orientated, while the Coast Guard isn't, but they do a lot of rescue missions

  2. Go Air Force! I am going to join the service too in a few months and I did some research. the best one out of the two to join is the air force because you get to travel more often then the coast guard. But, If you like staying in the water the coast guards would be in your best interest. but looking at other things as well the Air force takes the cake. I hope this helps and good luck!

  3. The Coast Guard is harder work, but is rewarding.  As a Coastie you defend the nation's borders and support commerce.  The USAF has travel and deployments can be long.  Both are service to the country and honorable choices.

  4. Research both, talk to recruiters for both, and pick the one that's going to make you happy.  If that's the Air Force, then go Air Force.  Just make sure you research first.  I get a lot of calls from people ending their first enlistment in all of the other services wanting to switch to the Coast Guard, they always tell me they didn't check into the Coast Guard before they enlisted the first time, and now they are behind where they could've been career-wise because they didn't do the research first.
