Question:

Air force vs Marines?

I am looking for some knowledge about which is better. I currenly wish to be in a plane, as a pilot. I have read a bunch about the air force scholarship oppurtunities, and could not find much on the marines website. I am in highschool now, and need to help find a way to get in to college, and serve my country afterwards.

I want to be in the air force, because there are more benefits, and I would be around planes more than not, but also, I would be much more likely to be sent straight into a war flying a plane.

I want to be in the marines due to the respect, and physical requirements that I could pass if I worked hard for a year or two. Marines have some planes that are higher technology than air force has too. What other careers exist for the marines? And how hard is Physical Training?

I am just looking for opinions and/or facts about pros and cons. Thanks for any help!

  1. dude marine pilots are crazy

im friends with in air force guy and he was talkin about how the marine pilot was flyng so fast he literally hurt the passenger because the blood was being compressed or something like that.

anyway if you want a mix of both join the navy theres more planes anway and good benefits.

airforce:no pt really its childs play.i hear the ride bikes now?

marine corp:hardest pt of your life.

    go navy

  2. Well dude, To be a Pilot you would need to enlist in either The Air Force or the Navy. It all depends from there, on where you want to go and what you want to do.

The Marines Boot camp is 13 weeks and is absolutly INTENSE. Roughest of them all.

    AF also has shoter deployments.

Dont believe it when they say more money or benefits in this branch or that branch. All 5 branches have the SAME PAY SCALE. You may get a bonues with the Army or something but the benefits for health, dental, education, houseing, etc is all the same.

  3. Marines have planes too.. in fact your better off in the marines if you wanna fly planes, the AF is so packed with people who want to fly that your gonna have to beat out a lot more people for a slot. Secondly, if you wanna go to college, your best bet would be ROTC, when applying for college try to see if there is a Marine ROTC program in the area and join up, they can give you a scholarship and get you on the fast track to be a aviator. Hope that helps.

  4. Neither!

    GO ARMY.

  5. The USMC is all about the USMC..What ever benefits you get are a plus..To be a Marine you must want to be a Marine first and everything else comes second..If your interested in all these "specific" things then the USMC might not be for you...Being a Marine means you will make sacrifices and if that means not having a maid to clean your room then that is what you have to do.

Both branches will give you what you want.,There is not a better branch..Just understand that the two are complete opposites in every sense.

You can go to my profile page and click the link there. It is for future Marines. You can read about what it takes and means to be a Marine.

  6. Look at Navy ROTC scholarships. The Marines are under the Department of the Navy and therefore share the Naval Academy and ROTC programs. The Air Force has the most advanced planes, the F/A-22 Raptor is one of the many. You could also get your wings and fly a Predator, those pilots are in great need.

  7. marine aircraft is nowhere near better technology than the Air Force, what are you talking about? have you ever heard of the F/A 22 jet fighter? or the B2 stealth bomber? the F117 stealth bomber? do some research before you ask a question

  8. You have to be an officer to be a pilot, which means college, military academy, or OCS first.

  9. Marines have the hardest physical requirement in all branches of the military.

If you wanna be a pilot then don't be in such a rush. Only officers get to be pilots so that means you gonna have to go college and get a degree first before you can even touch a plane.

  10. The navy have some of the best pilots.
