Question:

Air mattress question???

Is it normal for an air mattress to lose approximately 5-10% of its air overnight? My air mattress is fairly new, (it has been used about 6 times) and I pump it up moderately tight, but, this morning, we noticed that the mattress had lost air, especially towards the ends. I sprayed water with mild soap along the seams and noticed no leaking. Am I missing something??

Thank you in advance for all answers.

  1. No, you're not missing something. It's one of two things. Either the air mattress is leaking, which happens quite a bit. Or it's a matter of science. Whether you pump it up or blow it up with your mouth, the air you are putting in is slightly warmer, especially if you pump it up during the day. At night that air cools down and contracts, filling up less space and making the mattress seem somewhat deflated. So it's something that happens to everyone and there's nothing you can really do about it. All you can do is pump it back up. Hope this helps.

  2. I use an air mattress and I need to pump it up each night too. I think it's normal.
