Birds of prey use rising air currents associated with thermals to float around and search for prey.

Urban areas enhance convective lifting by what is called an urban heat island. Convective wind currents make convective lifting stronger.

Atmospheric stability does affect daily weather, but not in every way. Stability has an influence on development of precipitation, thunderstorms, and severe weather. More stability means less chance of inclement weather.
