Air unit went out? maybe?

About an hour and a half ago i noticed it was getting hot in the house so I checked the vents and it was warm air coming out. I went outside to see if the unit was running and it wasn't but now when i turn it on it makes a cricket or high pitched sound. anybody know whats wrong?

Sounds like the fan motor is going out.I would definitely shut off the power to the outdoor unit if that's where the sound is coming from or you will smoke the compressor and that will cost you a small fortune to replace compared to a fan motor.

Open the windows tonight.

check out the web site on the bottom of this page, and you might just get your answer  I think that it might be your filter making all that noise, whatever you do don't jeperized the air unit, call a technical  worker to come out and find out what the problem is
