  1. There is no manual 'on/off' switch anymore, unless it has been installed by a dealer for a valid medical reason.  The seat has an automatic sensor that activates the airbag when an occupant 85lbs or greater is in the seat.  The reason for 85 lbs is that 80 lbs is the maximum for kids to be in booster seats, and they figure 5 lbs for the booster itself.  So if you are 90 lbs, you are heavy enough to enable the airbag.  As long as you have your seatbelt on properly, if you are in a crash, you most likely won't ever touch the airbag.  Nissan uses explosive seatbelt retractors.  What they do is when the airbag explodes, special charges in the seatbelt rewinders also explode, which winds back all the slack in the seatbelt in a split second and locks them so you can't be thrown forward.

  2. The only way to turn the airbag off is to have the dealer reprogram the vehicles computer and they will not do this......

  3. TMK, you cannot turn off an airbag.

Who says you cannot sit in an airbag-protected seat?  Unless you are really small for your age (which, BTW, is a year too young to be in here - watch out for the busy-bodies who will report you!), you should be able to sit in the front seat.

  4. From the 2009 Nissan Murano Owners Manual:

    page 1-43.

    The front passenger seat is

    equipped with an occupant classification

    sensor (pattern sensor) that

turns the front passenger air bag

    OFF under some conditions. This

sensor is only used in this seat.

Failure to be properly seated and

wearing the seat belt can increase

the risk or severity of injury in an

    accident. See “Front passenger air

bag and status light” later in this

    section.

    and page 1-49

    Status light:

The front passenger air bag status light

is located on the instrument panel below the air

conditioner controls. The light operates as

    follows:

    . Unoccupied passenger seat: The

light is OFF and the front passenger air bag

is OFF and will not inflate in a crash.

. Passenger’s seat occupied by a small adult,

child or child restraint as outlined in this

    section: The light illuminates to

indicate that the front passenger air bag is

OFF and will not inflate in a crash.

. Occupied passenger seat and the passenger

meets the conditions outlined in this

section: The light is OFF to indicate

that the front passenger air bag is operational.

So, according to the owner's manual the seat will detect you are too small for the airbag and turn it off Automatically. Hope this helps!

  5. In my dad's car it says on the sun visor that I can't sit in front till i was 13, and when I turned 13 he let me.

    Wait till you're 13.
