is there any way i can listen to the airband radio system in the UK, using a normal household radio (one that just uses FM/ AM)? or do i have to buy a specific airband scanner, to reach the 108 to 117.975 MHz frequency?

thanks for the help

  1. I'm answering from the US, but I think I can safely say that most (like 99%) of AM/FM radios sold over the past several years are not set to go further up the dial than 107.9 (maybe 108 in some parts of the world).

I could be wrong and if so, I'm sure a radio tekkie from the UK will set me straight.

  2. You need a scanner as most am/Fm radios won't go that far (plus aircraft broadcast in the AM mode but the radio is set up to use FM usually on those frequencies
