  1. I don't know lol

    I hope that it serve

  2. Every few years the Air Force comes up with a diffrent anming scheme, in the '60's and '70's fighters had names like Demon, Phatom...etc, and in the '80 was Falcon, Eagle..etc, not they are tryting to go back to WWII names, some other neames for the F-35 were Spitfire II, Mustang II...you get the drift...

  3. I guess they ran out of names. Falcon, Eagle, Mustang, etc...

  4. The A-10 might OFFICIALLY be called the Thunderbolt II, but most refer to it as the Warthog, 'cause it's so d**n ugly.

  5. The A-10 was named after the P-47 of WW2, which was the Thunderbolt. The A-10 is then the 2nd Thunderbolt or the Thunderbolt 2.

The F-35 is named after the P-38 Lightning. Therefore, is the Lightning 2.

  6. The first Thunderbolt was a Republic P-47, so the A-10 was the second aircraft to use this name. But the A-10 is known, and coliqually referred to at the Warthog..

Same thing for for the JSF 35 Lighting II, the first aircraft with the designated Lighting name was the P-38 Lighting.

I think they should have used another name for both, but Im not on the naming commitee..
