  1. Its called a yolk in many airplanes. airbuses use whats called a joystick just like one you can buy in a store for your computer. just a little different and it actually does stuff to control a real plane. Fighter jets use whats called a stick.

  2. It's called the 'yoke' or the 'stick' (from 'joystick').

  3. The lever... is called a yoke or a stick... depending on the airplane.

  4. Cyclic stick.

  5. The Comet, like most airliners, had a control column with a control wheel or yoke mounted in reach of the pilot.  One on each side.  The control column and wheel give control of the pitch angle (nose up-nose down) and the roll (one wing down or the other wing down) attitude during flight.

The Cyclic Stick is the main control in a helicopter, dude, not a fixed wing airplane.

  6. the control stick or wheel depending on plane

  7. It's the control column.  "Yoke" or "stick" refers to the handle(s) on the control column.  A Comet would most certainly have a yoke.  The control column also controls roll, with the rudder pedals controlling yaw...
