  1. They are the same thing. This is a great career choice. It will require a lot of studying and a keen interest. Also when you get out in the industry you will be in a responsible position when you have carried out maintenance and release the aircraft to service. Peoples life will depend on your work. In the industry there will be pressure put on you to get the aircraft released to service.

Nowadays you might be working at night a lot as well as aircraft earn the airlines money when they are flying and one of the most cost effective times to conduct maintenance is at night when quite a lot of airports have curfews on traffic entering and leaving the airport.

It has a lot of rewards as well. Most reputable airlines will give you free travel allocation touse out of working time. also you may actually get sent abroud to work on one of your airlines aircraft thats been damaged in that country.  Ive heard of a case where a BA aircraft engineer was sent out with some workmates early on the morning on a Concorde flight to do some repairs on a Concorde already in new york. once the work was done they were flown back on a Boeing 747 in the evening on the same day. Another great perk is that its a great job and when people ask you what you do for a living you can confidently say Im an aircraft engineer.
