I travel from Detroit to Memphis once a month and have notices that the fares are crazy and unpredictable- I am leaving june 19th and need to buy my ticket ASAP but am hoping the fares will go down again- what is the longest I should wait? Who is really the cheapest airline? Any tips for flying cheaper?

  1. buy it NOWW!! dey go higher everyday

  2. With oil prices the way they are, airlines are all bleeding money and airfares are going nowhere but up. I'd buy the next couple of months' tickets ASAP.

According to the highly informative ITA Software web site, the cheapest nonstop roundtrip is $339 on Northwest (of course), or if you're willing to change in Charlotte and take four hours rather than 2, it's $307.

If you're taking all those round trips on Northwest, I hope you've joined their frequent flyer program Worldperks, through which you can eventually get the occasional free ticket.

  3. I've seen ticket price get cut in half less than 24 hours from departure but in general, the sooner you buy them, the cheaper they will be. I go to expedia.com
