Airforce Jewel heading for a victory in the Seen And Heard A4 525 Final at Shelbourne Park
The Grade A4 Seen And Heard A4 525 Final will be held at Shelbourne Park over 525 yards on Wednesday, 6th June. Contesting for the €700 prize money are Riverside Pansy, Mellow Magic, Woodsgift Ash, Airforce Jewel, Howling Wind and Smooth Seamus.
One of the strongest contenders is Airforce Jewel, Droopys Maldini’s two-year-old blue daughter out of b***h, Forest Ghost. Her career shot off with four training sessions, with the last two being at Shelbourne Park. Her first and second last training sessions were over the same distance.
However, on 9th February it took her 30.61 seconds to settle the distance while on 23rd February she was done in 29.15 seconds.
Her seasonal debut was in the Shelbourne Open Unraced 525 Round 1 Heat 3 on 15th March at Shelbourne Park over 525 yards. The race was won by the 2/1 collective favourite, Ballymac Sicily, who went across the wire in 29.33 seconds and led the runner up, Millbank Rose, by a neck’s difference.
Airforce Jewel settled third after racing for 29.55 seconds.
She then scored second in the Grade A5 Find Us On Facebook A5 525 on 28th March at Shelbourne Park over 525 yards. The race was won by the 6/4 collective favourite who completed the trip in 29.62 seconds and led the collective favourite runner up, Airforce Jewel, by a length.
Coming at terms with the third position was Gizmo Diamond.
Tuning the two-year-old a bit, the trainer, Bateman, drilled her over 299 yards on 10th May which Airforce Jewel covered in 16.85 seconds.
The training did not help as much as was expected out of it because she ended sixth in her very next race.
Finally on 31st May she accomplished what the connections had been waiting for ever since the dawn of her career. Airforce Jewel won the Grade A4 Seen And Heard A4 525 Semi-Final on 31st May at Shelbourne Park over 525 yards.
The 2/1 joint favourite settled the race in 28.80 seconds and was followed by the other joint favourite, Riverside Pansy, after she had covered the four lengths.
Airforce Jewel has substantial chances of claiming the race tonight.
