Airforce Roger all set for the Gala Coral Stayers
The Gala Coral Stayers will be held over 695 metres flat on Thursday, 9th August at Hove. The £150 race has attracted a line-up of six talented hounds. Taking up the challenge are Farkland Snow, Airforce Roger, Droopys Minnie, Droopys Master, Monlena Rumble and Swift Tigress.
The most credible entry for the race tonight is the three-year-old, Airforce Roger. The black and white dog has been racing ever since the previous season. He has experienced racing at the Shelbourne Park, Wimbledon, Limerick, Hove, Henlow and Romford.
Most of his recent races have been at Romford.
Westmead Hawk’s son’s seasonal debut transformed into success as on 21st January, 2012 he covered the 525 yards at Limerick the quickest. Breaking from the first gate and leading from the second position concluded the race for the three-year-old in 28.37 seconds while winning by the margin of 11 lengths.
Airforce Roger then became victim of losing one race after the other for the next seven races. 16th April, 2012 saw him winning a 285 metres race at Hove in 16.69 seconds. He achieved success by taking the lead soon, and then switching from rails to the middle.
Two more training sessions got him a fourth position while yet another drilling session had him ending third in the very next race.
Three-year-old son out of, Patterdale Luna, won the Who Got Her Ready Stakes on 22nd June, 2012 at Romford over 575 metres. Breaking into an early pace after leaving the second gate, and then taking the lead from the sixth spot settled the race in 35.70 seconds.
Missing the race by 2 ¼ lengths and following the winner after racing for 35.88 seconds was, Chavalin.
He struck a back-to-back after losing two races to fourth position. The last two starts of the F. Taylor trained culminated into a fifth and then a second position.
Airforce Roger qualified as the runner-up in the Book Our Summer Sizzler In The Chase Restaurant Stayers by settling the track distance in 36.13 seconds and missing the race by eight lengths. Thurlesbeg Bound won the race in 35.49 seconds.
