Airforce Spirit storms to comprehensive victory in the March 545 Maiden
Airforce Spirit stormed to a comprehensive victory in the March 545 Maiden at Mildenhall in England on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. He performed exceptionally well in the Grade OR event and bagged a cash prize of £100.
Following were the greyhounds, who took part in the race, Airforce Spirit, Seathwaite Clip, Pauls Intentions, CrossleighTinko, Scala Vixen, Unique Dove and Parkers Nemesis.
The bookmakers had awarded Airforce Spirit and Pauls Intentions with the best odds, as they were joint favourites to win the race. However, the former of the two hounds dominated the proceedings and managed to win the race by more than six lengths.
R. Holloway’s trainee had been given a starting price of 6 to 4 and the punters had full faith in his abilities. He entered the event from trap number one and completed the race distance in 34.09 seconds. He started off decently and gained advantage over the rest of the participants. No one was able to catch him from then onwards, as he continued to build on the lead.
The race favourite hound is the son of Tyrur Lee out of Loyal Irish and was born in June 2009. This victory would have given him so much confidence and he will continue getting decent odds in the future events.
Second place went to Seathwaite Clip, which was a surprise, as he was not expected to deliver a strong result. He was given a starting price of 8 to 1 by the bookmakers and was the least favourite to finish in top two.
E. Gowler’s trainee did not have any problems in the race, as he had a clear run. This allowed him to build a solid gap over his rivals. However, he failed to challenge the front runner and finished in a distant runner up position.
This run would have boosted the confidence of Seathwaite Clip, who will be expected to produce some consistent results from now onwards. The black dog is the son of Premier Fantasy out of Breeze Hill Juli and was born in September 2009.
Joint favourite hound, Pauls Intentions, disappointed his team, as he finished third. He could have done a better job, but seemed to lack stamina in the end. Although he did not have any problems in the race, he failed to challenge the top two.
C. Finch’s trained hound was able to gain a solid lead over the rest of the runners, but the bookmakers expected him to be much stronger. The black dog is the son of Mineola Farloe out of Mineola Plan and was born in September 2009.
The rest of the hounds were unable to make an impression, as they did not have good stamina and also had a few problems during the race.
